Jiaogulan/Gynostemma pentaphyllum
HERBAL ADAPTOGEN
Lower Cortisol. Sleep Better. Live Longer.
How often do you get to feel REALLY Present?
As in, really in the moment, in your body, in touch with your natural instincts?
In today's world of nonstop notifications, real presence can be difficult to come by.
That's why we've championed an herb that helps bring you back to your natural state-- a clear mind, a strong body, and a peaceful soul.
KUDRA - Gynostemma pentaphyllum
(aka "Jiaogulan" or "Amachazuru") is a naturally sweet, caffeine-free herb with incredible performance and longevity benefits.
KUDRA is an Adaptogen.
Adaptogens are a class of herbs that improve your body's response to stress by bringing you back into balance.
They exert bi-phasic action on the central nervous system in order to maintain homeostasis.
So whether you're feeling too tired or too wired, KUDRA will bring your back to just right...
KUDRA is a Nootropic.
Gynostemma activates AMPK, an enzyme that boosts mitochondria production, turns stored fat into energy, and has been known to prevent Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
It also stimulates the production of Nitric Oxide which lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow to important parts of the body.
KUDRA is a Superfood.
Gynostemma has been found to enhance the immune system and carry anti-aging properties...
Stimulates production of superoxide dismutase-- a powerful antioxidant that combats cell damage and aging.
Increases white blood cell count, antibodies, and cytokines.
Reduces inflammation, especially in respiratory pathways, as due to allergies or ashthma.

Does KUDRA seem
too good to be true?
We felt the same way.
Gynostemma pentaphyllum has so many benefits we couldn't believe we had never heard of it before.
Thankfully, its active compounds (gypenosides) have been extensively researched.
Below is more information on the various benefits with citations.
WELL-BEING
Unlike stimulants or sedatives that have a unilateral effect on the body, adaptogens like KUDRA exert bi-phasic action on the central nervous system.
It balances activation of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, so it can help you relax when you're wired, and help you wake up when you're drowsy.

KUDRA can provide a long-term solution for the chronically anxious.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in 2019 in published in Phytomedicine showed that supplementing with Gynostemma pentaphyllum reduced T-STAI (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) score, a quantifiable metric for ‘Anxiety Prone-ness”, in individuals experiencing chronic psychological stress.
Unlike sedatives, which can provide a short-term solution to anxiety, at best, Gynostemma does not cause drowsiness nor depress the nervous system.
KUDRA contains no caffeine, nor any addicting substances.
The more you take it, the more efficiently it works, but no dependency is caused. As an adaptogen, it's primary function is in helping your body react to stress.
Adverse side effects are extremely rare and seem to only occur when taken in very high doses. They include light-headedness and mild nausea.
Due to its lowering of blood pressure, we recommend that pregnant women and those with chronically low blood pressure do not drink KUDRA before speaking with a medical professional.
PERFORMANCE
Gynostemma pentaphyllym is a known activator of AMPK (adenosine 5′ monophosphate-activated protein kinase), an enzyme that stimulates sugar intake of muscles.
AMPK can increase energy, speed up metabolism, regular appetite,
It regulates appetite, decrease inflammation, support mitochondrial activity, improves insulin sensitivity, supports autophagy (destroying damaged and pre-cancerous cells), and helps with hormone production and fertility.
KUDRA can improve cardiovascular endurance.
A 1993 study done on 220 athletes found that 30 minutes after a single dose of gypenosides, 100% of the subjects experienced an increase in stroke volume and cardiac output.
It also increases oxygen absorption of muscles, delaying lactic acid secretion, a huge benefit to athletes.
The athletic effects of a dose typically lasts 4 hours without exercise, 3 hours with moderate exercise, and 2 hours with intense exercise.

Arichi, Shigeru, et al. "Saponins of Gynostemma pentaphyllum Makino (13)" Yakugaku Zasshi. Japan. 1987. 107:361-366.
A 1999 study at Vanderbilt University Medical Center showed that gypenosides stimulate the release of nitric oxide, which causes blood vessels to relax, lowering blood pressure and increasing circulation.
KUDRA is not an aphrodisiac, but it can improve circulation to erectile tissue.

LONGEVITY
The most well-known adaptogen is Panax ginseng, which has 28 active compounds, known as saponins.
The main ingredient in KUDRA, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, has 82 saponins, including 4 of the same ones that are in ginseng, 17 that have a similar medicinal effect to that of ginseng, plus 61 that ginseng doesn't have.
Also, unlike Panax ginseng, Gynostemma does not pose any risk to people with high blood pressure. (Actually Gp can help lower blood pressure.)
KUDRA can help strengthen your immune system.
A 1991 study done on leucopenia (white blood cell deficient) patients showed that being administered gypenosides (the active compounds KUDRA) 3x per day approx. doubled their white blood cell counts (from 2.4-3.5 to 5.4-6.2 x 109/L). [1]
Another 2007 study showed Gp can enhance production of antibodies and cytokines.[2]
Another 2008 study suggested Gp reduces inflammation of air passageways, reducing allergic reactions and ashthma. [3]

Various studies have shown that Gynostemma pentaphyllum inhibits cancer cell migration.
Gypenosides have been found to destroy certain carcinogenic cells including prostate, colon, and leukemia cells. They have also been found to inhibit growth of breast, lung, stomach, and liver cancers.
Gypenosides stimulate the synthesis of SOD (superoxide dismutase), one of the body's primary endogenous antioxidants for combating free radical damage to cells.
Many people supplement with antioxidants like SOD and glutathione, but when taken orally, stomach acids destroy the nutrients before they can be used by the body.
Instead of "giving" you the antioxidant, gypenosides help you produce your own for maximal bioavailability.
